Stitching Club - Community led Repair, Up-cycle, Bag Making, Learning
Community led stitching club at aikyam space, Fort Kochi. Learn repair, upcycling, bag-making from cut pieces, and screen printing. 4 levels — from fixing clothes to earning. Daily 2-6 PM (except Mondays).
Fee : Free (including equipments, tools, etc) Limited seats - preference to low income, underserved households from Fort Kochi, Mattancherry and nearby areas.
The Lab: Has all the necessary tools, equipments needed with mentoring and peer learners.
Medium of language: Malayalam
Hands-on stitching sessions that will cover the following:
Level 1: Saver - Learn how to repair old/damaged clothes and everyday household items.
Level 2: Maker - Upcycle Leftovers collected from boutiques to beautiful, functional, sustainable bags, pouches. Screen Printing techniques to make your products more valuable.
Level 3: Tiny Entrepreneur - Generate Income of 2K-5K INR/month through products you make, sell.
Level 4: Role model - Receive support to set up your own Hyper Local Stitching Club and build your space, community in Fort Kochi, Mattancherry & Nearby areas.
Fresh Cut Pieces collected before they enter landfill, cleaned, arranged into beautiful designs, stitched to functional robust & beautiful tote bags.
