Every Wednesday, one of the meeting rooms at aikyam space transforms into a hub of mental well-being and community. A small group of people gather together to share their mental health journeys and to support each other through challenges. This in-person therapeutic support group is organised by Maya of Mind Empowered, a non-profit that works towards uplifting young people and women.
Mind Empowered has crafted a comprehensive empowerment program targeting the psychological and social uplift of youth and women. This initiative emphasises a positive mindset and encourages open expression of emotions. It provides individuals with essential life skills and promotes conscious efforts towards maintaining a healthy mind and body. Mind Empowered's goals include educating people about mental health, and encouraging them to reach out to support groups for help. The program also aims to enhance physical well-being through activities like yoga, Zumba, art therapy and more.
Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with global mental health experts for free every Wednesday from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm, receiving reliable support in a safe environment. Anonymity is preserved in these sessions, allowing participants to interact without fear of exposure.
Mind Empowered promises to offer a safe, open forum for discussing emotions and provides guidance towards healing and happiness through mental, physical, and personality development. “It's a nice place to just... speak if you [previously] didn't have those spaces available to you," says one of the attendees. "It is a very nice space to open up. Maya is very open and kind. I'm not used to speaking without a point, but I am slowly realising how necessary these conversations are. Overall, it was amazing and I'll definitely be there for future sessions.”
