Giving reclaimed wood a new story

What went in
Time and hands-on work to remove nails from the reclaimed wood before handing it over for carpentry.

Activity

We removed nails from the reclaimed wood, preparing it for a new journey as frames for the Preamble to the Indian Constitution. This was a practical step towards giving the wood a new purpose. The wood will next go to our carpenter, Mr. Jacob, along with recyclable acrylic sheets and recyclable foam backing sheets for frame production.

Outcome

The nails have been removed from the reclaimed wood, bringing it a step closer to being used for our first batch of frames.

Learnings

Working with reclaimed wood involves preparation before making something new. Tasks such as removing old nails need to be included in the production plan, with time set aside before the wood reaches the carpenter.
