Description

Introducing Design Thinking In School Curriculum

The workshop looked at the challenge of introducing design thinking in the school curriculum. This is the first in a series of human-centered design workshops. The participants included those working in the social impact, design and media fields... development workers, designers, and people working with social impact organisations.

We worked on creating a safe and inclusive space for the participants. We were committed to maintaining gender neutrality and making space for all voices to be heard.

Participant list:

  1. Kshema Varghese, researcher and development professional
  2. Ron Joseph, UX/UI designer
  3. Niyas V, product designer
  4. Kurian Jacob, COO of Tinkerhub Foundation
  5. Rohit TP, engineering student
  6. Shraddha Shreejaya, international development worker
  7. Chithira Vijayakumar, researcher and development worker
  8. Abhirami, aikyam fellow
  9. Aysha, aikyam fellow
  10. Sumi, aikyam fellow

The participants worked together in two groups. Their focus: to figure out the stakeholders involved in changing the school curriculum. They identified the key stakeholders who would be the most impacted. And the ones who held the most power in the decision making process. They then had a discussion to understand how the key stakeholders could get more of a role in the decision-making process.

The participants have formed a group called PAPAD (People’s Alliance for Process & Agency in Design). The group will continue exploring human-centered design through various topics of social relevance.
