We initiated a new production cycle focused on raw material processing and pre-stitching organization. The team gathered to sort through various multi-colored fabric scraps, categorizing them by texture, weight, and color tone to ensure balanced color distribution for upcoming Kantha panels. To maintain strict design uniformity, we accurately marked and cut the selected fabrics into uniform 6 cm wide strips. Every cut strip was inspected for edge neatness and proper length alignment before being bundled, labeled, and stored for the next phase of pattern assembly.
Outcome
* Enhanced material handling and accurate fabric cutting skills.
* Observed: Participants successfully measured and cut fabric strips according to the exact 6 cm specification, reducing material waste.
(Participants told us)
Learnings
* What worked: Sorting fabrics by weight and coluor before cutting made the strip preparation significantly faster.
* What was difficult: Keeping precise straight lines on lightweight or stretchable fabric types required extra care and steady hand control.
*Changes for next time: Pressing and ironing all fabric scraps prior to cutting will eliminate creases and speed up measurement.
