Our Journey with Chavittunadakam: Learning, Connection & Support

Facilitated by a facilitator

Some connections begin with a performance, but grow through everything that happens beyond the stage.

Our journey with Cochin Chavittu Nadaka Kalari, Britto Ashaan, and the team goes back nearly two to three years. Over time, it has become a continuous exchange of learning, collaboration, and shared experiences.

With every interaction, we learn more about Chavittunadakam—not just as an art form, but through the knowledge, dedication, and stories of the artists who carry it forward.

For us, supporting artists is also about building lasting relationships, creating opportunities to share their work, and making space for more people to encounter these traditions.

And there’s something special about where this connection began: Chavittunadakam was the first art form we celebrated through Friends of Thudippu.

Perhaps the most meaningful part of this journey is realising that art is not only something we watch or learn it is something we connect with through people. And when those connections continue, learning becomes a shared process, and support becomes a way of helping these traditions move forward.
